Organizing the tasks to design, manufacture, and assemble the more than 10,000 parts that make up a motor vehicle is probably the greatest challenge in manufacturing an automobile. In addition to designing and building the vehicle, automobile manufacturers must address delivery, servicing, managing supplier relations, and responding to the needs of vehicle owners.

There is no question that project management techniques are helpful to an automotive environment. However, the techniques used in the automotive environment are far different from other project management environments, and consideration and concern to this effect must be understood to more effectively implement the project management techniques.

So In this PMI Knowledge Sharing session, we will discuss about the product life cycle of the vehicle and try to understand the key activities during the overall vehicle manufacturing with examples so that project management processes can be implemented successfully.

Topics for the Discussion:

  • Overall process flow in the automobile vehicle manufacturing
  • Challenges
  • Managing Scope
  • Key Responsibilities of the Project Manager
  • Setting up milestones
  • Methodology/ Approach
  • Importance of Agile Methodology
  • WBS
  • Risk management
  • Quality Assurance
  • Project Integration
