Description of Presentation/Content:  It is widely recognized that value management (aka value analysis or value engineering) is a powerful multidisciplinary team method for planning major projects and controlling the expenditure of financial and other resources to achieve a desired return on investment. Functions, costs, and other criteria are analyzed to create a plan to maximize value and minimize the cost of a project selected for study. The value methodology can be applied to develop a plan and realistic budget for a new project, product, or process. It can also be applied to existing projects, products, processes, or facilities that are over budget. Proper application of the value methodology identifies ways to improve value and expedites consensus decisions regarding the most resource-efficient ways to meet customer expectations.

About the Presenter: Professor Sievert is a Project Management Professional (PMP #74). He has a Ph.D. specializing in Project Management from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Business Administration from Elmhurst College. As president of The Sievert Group of companies for nearly thirty years, he managed a variety of capital intensive projects for Fortune 500 and smaller companies. As both a practitioner and scholar, he has extensive experience in project management, value management/cost management, facilities management, and construction management.

Dr. Sievert was also a full-time member of the faculty at a major university in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. He has written numerous articles and several books on project management and value management topics. His articles have been published in leading international periodicals such as Value World, Project Management Journal, Corporate Real Estate Journal, and Facility Management Journal. Certifications include: Certified Value Specialist for Life, Certified Project Management Professional, Certified Cost Professional, and Certified Facility Manager.
