Articles submitted will be reviewed for content and applicability to a general chapter audience. Appropriate project management oriented material, and not an advertisement for services or programs, will be considered for publication in an upcoming newsletter edition. We reserve editorial rights over all submitted materials and final approval for publication rests with the VP of Membership of the Chicagoland PMI Chapter.
All submitted and / or published, articles are done so on a volunteer basis, and to the benefit of the greater community within the PMI Chicagoland chapter. There is no remuneration for any article, submitted or published, and submitted articles cannot be considered copyrighted material.
Any fully copyrighted material will not be published without the prior written consent of the original author, and will be published only after careful consideration by the Director of Member Communications and the VP of Membership of the PMI-Chicagoland chapter.

PMI Chicagoland and IMSA come together to host a Project Management session for students at IMSA
Eight students at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) had the opportunity to participate in a week long Project Management skills seminar during IMSA's "intersession" held on January 8-12, 2018. Andrea Franks, one of PMI Chicagoland Chapter's Academic Liaison volunteers, lead the session from 1-4 PM Monday - Friday. Using the PMIef's Project Management Skills for Life curriculum, students learned about the five Project Management processes and put their skills into practice using relatable mock projects. Each group went through the exercises to create a project plan including a project charter and scope statement, work break down structure and a project schedule. The students also learned about identifying and managing risks, creating communication plans as well as managing stakeholders and team members. At the end of the session, they played the Tower Game to see how much they learned. All in all, the students, faculty advisor and the seminar leader had a great time! Many students commented that they were surprised to learn how structured project management is! They also said they learned skills that would help them with their school work and their everyday life. Each student was awarded a ‘Completion Certificate’ from PMI so as to booster their confidence and also were given backpack with the PMI 40th celebration logo.
