Session Description:

The workforce is changing rapidly. The modern economy is shifting away from traditional steady employment patterns and accompanying worker mindsets, towards increasingly dynamic and often ephemeral lifecycles. Company longevity is in decline and the employer-employee relationship is evolving to meet the needs of the future workplace.

In response, successful individuals are recalibrating their approaches to and expectations from the world of work. An agile mindset is foundational in both individuals and organizations who foster growth.

However, with fast advancement in technologies and market demand, organizations and projects need to be more agile and respond/pivot quickly to stay competitive and be relevant in the industry. This presentation will review the changing project management landscape and skill sets you will need to stay relevant and continue to grow your skill set as a project management professional.

Topic: Leading Without Authority: Critical Techniques
Speaker:  Lisa-Ann Barnes
Track:  Career
Time:  11:15 am – 12:15 pm

Session Description:

As a project manager, you need your team to do the work you need them to do, when you need them to do it, and with the expected quality. Many times, you don’t have formal authority over the team – you’re a consultant, team members are from other departments, you have vendors and contractors on the team. You also need your stakeholders to provide the necessary information, make thoughtful decisions, and provide their approvals on a timely basis. And you seldom have authority over them. So how do you deliver a successful project when you don’t have authority? You have to lead with influence!

In this session, we will look at how to:

  • Assess your level of influence,
  • Communicate expectations to the team,
  • Increase the team’s engagement in the project, and
  • Display the best leadership attitude.

Speaker: John Kennedy
Track: Transtion
Time: 11:15 am – 12:15 pm

Session Description:

Everything we do depends on the ability of our brain to process information efficiently and fast. A faster more focused and agile brain makes us better leaders, students, athletes, salespeople and parents. One consulting neuroscientist said that the program creates mental “flow state” allowing us to accomplish more in less time with less stress. John tailors his keynotes and workshops to any topic and audience and always includes a powerful neuroprimer exercise which participants keep to use on their own. They will leave with a new understanding of how our brains work, how this knowledge can help them improve in all areas of their life as well as the exercise to help them continue to improve performance. John also conducts lunch and learns and training workshops for companies and conferences. It is extremely powerful for teams as each member develops the ability to sense and communicate with others at an unconscious level.
