Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master is a nine-lesson, instructor-led course that shows you how to use the Disciplined Agile tool kit to solve a variety advanced problems, work with allies within your organization, and optimize how teams work. In just 4 consecutive weekdays (so you have a life on the weekend), you will gain knowledge in planning, reporting, and metrics, and coordinating activities, as well as how to meet challenges in these areas. And you’ll develop the skills you need to foster emotional intelligence, resolve conflicts, and lead high-performance teams at any stage of development.
Filled with activities, supplemental reading, and more, this course will prepare you to take the Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master (DASSM) exam and, equally important, start using Disciplined Agile immediately within your leadership role.

- Use the DA tool kit to identify and help resolve challenges that the delivery teams face in the value stream layer.
- Explain the purpose of the Coordinate Activities process goal and why it is important.
- Explain how to improve the value creation structure of teams
- Use the DA tool kit to optimize the flow of work and solve challenges related to coordinating and collaborating across teams, or within a larger team of teams.
- List examples of when conflict can be healthy within an individual and within a group.
- Explain the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Resolution Model and its components relative to concern for self and concern for others.
- Demonstrate how to use healthy and unhealthy language to solve a conflict.
- Identify the DA role responsible for planning.
- Describe the concept of sufficient planning.
- List and define the five levels of scope and who focuses on each.
- Demonstrate how to solve a planning problem using the Release Planning goal diagram.
- Explain how to implement just-in-time planning using a Gantt chart.
- Identify how your team can improve planning using two goal diagrams: Release Planning and Produce a Potentially Consumable Product (Plan Your Work decision point).
- Explain how to accurately forecast release dates and costs
- Explain the difference between an MVP and an MBI
- Explain how teams approach metrics.
- Explain how organizations approach metrics.
- Explain what types of measurement work and what do not work.
- Explain how to choose and design specific metrics to measure improvements against areas related to team performance that need improvement (GQM, OKRs)
- Demonstrate how to solve a measurement problem using the Govern Delivery Team goal.
- Have 2 years of experience working on an agile team in a leadership role, like DA scrum master, scrum master, product owner, architecture owner, etc.
- Prior to workshop, students must purchase or have a copy of the book Choose You WoW! A Disciplined Agile Delivery Handbook for Optimizing Your Way of Working (WoW) by Scott Ambler and Mark Lines. - (Highly recommended) Read Section 1 of Choose Your Wow! Book and have a good foundation in Disciplined Agile (DA) including but not limited to DA Mindset (Principles, Promises, Guidelines), DA Life Cycles, DA People, Agile Ceremonies and Artifacts, DA Process Blades, DA Process Goals, DA Process Goal Diagrams, DA Scaling Factors, 5 steps to choose your WoW, DA Phases, and Lean Principles and concepts.
- Computer with video and audio capabilities and high-speed internet connection.
- Access to Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari browser.
- Course will be delivered live by Jonathan Lee, Project Management Institute Certified Disciplined Agile Instructor (CDAI) through Video Conferencing and Online collaboration tools.
- Students are highly encouraged to have video cameras on during the workshop to enhance collaboration and engagement amongst attendees.
- An email will be sent with information on how to download Students Course Materials few days before the session start date.
- This is a 4 consecutive weekday course. Each day, the workshop will begin at 5 PM and end by 9:00PM CST with frequent breaks.

Instructor – Jonathan Lee
Jonathan is a Certified Disciplined Agile Instructor (CDAI). He has over 25 years of IT consulting experience serving in variety of roles including Developer, Business Analyst, Solutions Specialist, Architect, Project/Program Manager, Agile Project Manager, Product Owner, CRM Advisor, and Agile Instructor and Coach. He is also PMI Chicagoland chapter past president and a graduate of Project Management Institute (PMI) Leadership Institute Master Class. Jonathan is an energetic instructor who helps students connect the dots as they learn about the Disciplined Agile using examples and insights drawn from his past experiences. As a value add, Jonathan also provides optional DA exam preparation coaching session to students that have taken his DA courses.
