Steve Barger is the Chair of the PMI Chicagoland Executive Council and is the Chief Operating Officer at Moshun. Steve joined Moshun following an illustrious career as a Fortune 500 executive and strategic consultant helping companies build and execute comprehensive plans to solve their most difficult problems. With his grounding belief in the importance of continuous learning to get smarter as a team and grow as a business, he is an exceptional leader who can oversee organization strategy, day-to-day operations and manage organizational change.

An accomplished and sought-after speaker at trade and professional organizations, Steve is the president of the Northern Illinois University Computer Science Alumni and has served on the Executive Council of the Chicagoland Chapter of the Project Management Institute since 2021.

In his free time Steve enjoys reading, snowmobiling and woodworking with his friends. Steve holds a Masters in Project Management from Keller Graduate School of Management, and B.S. in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University.

About the Speaker:

Laura Beres is a business executive with over 15 years of experience across corporate strategy and operations in retail and consumer industries, transforming programs and building new organizational and market-facing capabilities.

Currently, Laura serves as the Vice President of Enterprise Transformation at Ulta Beauty, where she is accountable for the management and execution of Ulta Beauty’s enterprise initiative investments. She leads the Enterprise Portfolio Management, Program Management, Change Management and Value Realization capabilities of the enterprise, leading work to connect the vision and aspirations of the company to its activities. Previously, Laura served as the Senior Director of  Strategic Portfolio Delivery, where she led the most complex, transformational initiatives for the enterprise working with the senior leadership team. She also led Conscious Beauty at Ulta BeautyTM, a holistic approach to beauty that gives guests access to choices and transparency across clean ingredients, product sustainability and more. In this role, she was responsible for the development and delivery of the strategic approach and executional program, the assessment and management of risk, and its quality and success across internal and external partners. Laura also led Corporate Strategy at Ulta Beauty, supporting the organization in developing its long-term vision with the senior leadership team.

Laura began her career in the financial services industry where she gained experience in commercial lending across small and middle market companies. After earning her M.B.A., Laura worked at Deloitte Consulting, advising primarily on growth and transformation strategies in Consumer Packaged Goods. She also held leadership roles at Deloitte in the CMO organization and on large global accounts, both developing and executing strategies.

In the fall of 2020, Laura joined the Board of Directors for Nanophase Technologies. She has previously served on Associate and Auxiliary Boards for non-profit organizations in Chicago, as well as the Board of Directors for Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras.

She earned her M.B.A. from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and has a B.S. in Finance and B.A. in Oboe Performance from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Laura lives with her husband and three young children in Naperville, Illinois.

About the Speaker:

Andy joined the Greater Chicago Food Depository as Head of Technology and Transformation in May of 2021. As a volunteer before joining the Food Depository, he led a team to develop the organization’s foundational Information Technology Roadmap. He also served as Interim Chief Information Officer beginning in October of 2019. Andy is responsible for the systems that enable the Food Depository to operate today and the active portfolio of projects building the systems and data to better serve our community tomorrow.

Prior to joining the Food Depository, Andy was a Managing Director at Accenture, and he brings three decades of extensive experience building teams and leading organizations to optimize business processes using technology. Consulting within multiple industries – including Consumer Goods, Agri-Business, Retail and Electronics – Andy specialized in supply chain processes and systems. He was very honored to be part of the international group of IT professionals recognized with a Computerworld Smithsonian Award for innovative use of information technology to benefit society.

Outside of work, Andy can be found enjoying time with family and friends, on a bike, at a disc-golf course or in the mountains.

Andy received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
