Youth Outreach

Mission

The mission of Youth Outreach is to develop impactful, empowered and sustainable partnerships with the youth in external communities. Partnering and collaborating across all pillars within the chapters Outreach umbrella to provide the youth with targeted opportunities for engagement. Our activities aim to provide youth between the ages of 14-24 with an introduction to PMI. Making our first impression our best impression that leads to active engagement, opportunities, and partnership that benefits all involved.

Objective

Establish a youth and next generation outreach strategy focused on this specific changemaker group through youth mentoring program, next generation seminars and conferences, PMIEF Scholarship, and youth promoted products.

Goals

  • Develop a targeted youth outreach strategy that aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)
  • Promote the benefits of project management methodology to youth throughout Chicagoland area in a way that is relatable and provides opportunity for a two-way conversation
  • Form partnerships with established local non-profit organizations whose primary focus is servicing the betterment of our youth and provides opportunities that support youth outreach mission
  • Host an annual project management event that provides the youth with fun, engaging opportunities for recognition and highlights our community involvement
  • Provide volunteer opportunities for our members to give back to the community while earning PDUs
  • Increase the visibility of the PMI-Chicagoland chapter and project a positive image of the PMI and the project management profession
