Helen Cooke

Helen S. Cooke, PMP, PMI Fellow, is a 20-year project management veteran with experience in Fortune 500 Companies, universities, the service industry, manufacturing, government, military, and defense. She is a certified Project Management Professional PMP ® and a PMI® Fellow, as well as an experienced management consultant. She has worked on five continents and was elected a Fellow of the Project Management Institute in 2005. Helen was a PMI Officer, Vice President of Finance and Administration, launching PMI’s new headquarters and global expansion. She was elected VP of Region II and served six years on PMI’s Global Board of Directors. She was President of the Chicagoland Chapter, Chair of the Council of Chapter Presidents, and the first elected officer of the PMI Educational Foundation. 
As a Consulting Manager, Helen led a profit and loss practice at Deloitte for 10 years; and as Senior Principal at American Management Systems was both a project and portfolio manager for financial systems. She was a mid-level program manager in the Federal Government and was a university administrator prior to entering the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in 1979. Later she headed the Project Management Center of Excellence at Mcdonalds' Corporation and initiated SEICMM Level 2/3 and a PMO in United Airlines Information Systems Division until 2001. Holding both a bachelor’s and master’s degree, she has taught project management systems at the graduate level at Keller Graduate School, a PMO course at DePaul University, and both Project and Program Management for PMI. 
She is a Contributing Editor at InfoWorks.com, the global website for InfoWorks International, a business she helped found after leaving United Airlines after 9/11. She is listed in the 2021 Issue of Marquis Who’s Who in America and is the author of several books on Project Management and Organizational Project Management Maturity published through McGraw-Hill. 

Title: Megatrends Shaping the Future: The Future is with us Now

Abstract: Just as trends that emerged and shaped where we are today were already active and visible in 1982, there are new trends emerging now that will be a major factor in shaping our tomorrow. The challenge lies in picking which will be persistent and influential, and which could become incidental “background noise.” Some of today’s major forces lie precisely at “the confluence of both changing values and economic necessity.” If we use our project management skills to analyze and anticipate them, we will all benefit. Projects increase in times of change. There is more change coming. Project Managers may be called into action to use their analytical skills and collaborative management style to put order in chaos, providing results-oriented value to their customers and to society.
