Topic: Operationalizing Your Project Data

PMI Talent Triangle: Business Acumen (1 PDU)

Abstract: For many projects, companies and clients constantly speak of the importance of metrics and using data to inform decisions. While there is no denying collecting and providing raw data is helpful, what's often left ambiguous to the user looking at the data is WHAT does it mean and HOW do we actually use it to make decisions? The goal for my presentation is to present a case study of how one company determined what data was important, how goals were constructed around it, what collecting the data actually looked like, and how it was used in conversations to make decisions at a micro and macro level.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss common data points, ways to collect it, and questions to ask of your data
  • Demonstrate ways to take action from the data that is being presented
  • Understand how to tie data back to macro project/portfolio/operational goals for overall alignment
